What Can I Improve On?
EVERYTHING!
Always room for improvement. Haven’t we heard that a good part of our lives. Improving on everything all at once though may not be realistic for most. Figuring out where to start is a great question. I know I can certainly use improvement on prioritizing. Everything always seems equally important. Or I end up on a sliding scale and moving variables. It certainly gets tricky on what to pick first. Focusing on myself seems like a survive/thrive concept and focusing on others seems community minded and giving. Both are so important. But it takes away from me taking care of myself with the plane oxygen mask. The line of not being or at least not feeling selfish but not also not ignoring yourself.
In our world and definitely in an entire lifetime, the issues of hunger, poverty, the environment, literacy and so much more are in daily need of improvement.
Today, I was coached by one of my friends. One thing I definitely need to work on for myself is self-talk. The stories we tell ourselves that may come from any point in our life that involved others now all of a sudden transform into your own beliefs or thoughts. The negativity that prevents yourself because the word they crops up.
During our practice session I realized I was actually my own “they” and saying these things to myself. Others were not judging me or saying anything to me and probably not even behind my back. It was definitely an eye opening awakening.
One of the things to improve on is my own self talk. I kind of imposed my own homework on myself to form questions when these types of thoughts arise. A self check if you will. Without getting into my details because I am still kind of raw from my discoveries, I will say that my friend and I coaching did make considerable strides in a life long issue I have had repeatedly. Her coaching me allowed me to state some truths and the ripple effect of my original issue can now be addressed because I have opened space in my thoughts to do so.
Healing comes in a lot of forms and while this is not therapy, there are many ways to acknowledge, discover and heal.
In my younger days, I didn’t know how to give certain emotions a voice. I have definitely gotten better at it and because of my class supporting me, I have stated my truth, done the work and am now in a much healthier position to live my authentic self.
Improving ourselves comes in many forms all thru our lives. Even things we have thought we already mastered. It is okay to review things again that we go thru. It is okay to ask the hard questions and know that the answer might differ from what we originally thought.
Coaching allows us to free our minds from limiting beliefs. It is allows us to truly see the authentic and transparent version of ourselves. To be open to this mindset brings clarity because it is all coming from you and is all for you.
